Facebook calls itself 'Meta' in an attempt to gain control of Metaverse:

Facebook Metaverse Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, announced that the company will change its name to Meta, saying that the move reflects the fact that the company is now much broader than just a social media platform.
